Day 3
18.11.2023
If you are in Tokyo, you should not miss to visit a Schrein. The Meiji-jingū (shrine) is located in Tokyo's Shibuya district in Japan near Harajuku Station. It is the so-called Shintō shrine dedicated to the souls of Meiji-tennō and his wife Shōken-kōtaigo. It is a beautiful park with many sacred relics. It is not only a tourist attraction but primarily serves the locals for many different traditional celebrations such as a wedding.
These are all beautiful hand-painted Sake barrels that were donated to the shrine. Sake is the traditional liquor enjoyed on special occasions or simply after a great dinner. I was allowed to taste the Sake both hot and cold.
We were lucky and could just watch a wedding. The women walk on much too small wooden shoes in much too tight dresses. Comfortable it does not look but beautiful!
And some other nice pictures..
